Mr Rockefeller arrives with his daughter, Michaels twin sister, on Biak. He meets with Governor Platteel in Merauke, where both give a press conference. Mr Rockefeller and his daughter Mary leave the airplane in company of the Resident of the Geelvink Bay District and are escorted to the station building. There Costring (Commander of the Netherlands Forces in New Guinea) Rear-Admiral Reeser briefs them outside on the verandah and inside in the restaurant about the situation. 01.25 Rockefeller walks with escort across the apron, takes leave of Mr Kouwenhoven, shakes hands with the pilots, takes leave of Mr Reeser. Father and daughter board a KLM DC3. Costring, Resident and a Commander of the Naval Aviation Service watching the leaving airplane. 02.10 On board a patrol vessel with native art objects cameramen film René Wassing who arrived by Beaver. The ship off the shore, the ship’s name De Goede Hoop on the bow of the ship 25.20 The ship sets out and sails the bay 25.33 Dutch and Papua crewmen prepare a chicken 25.46 Fishnet filled with fish opened on the deck, but not all fish fall out because a large tuna-like fish remains stuck in the net. Crewman attacks fishes with ax, fish stretched out on deck. Large white fish is hoisted up with joined forces and put overboard 26.32 Crewmember lifts the saw of a sawfish onto a board and hackes it off with an ax and then the fish is hoisted up, slips from the noose, is hoisted up once more and with great effort is put overboard 27.12 Skipper and assistant repair a net, detail of the mending. Assistant and Papuan help repair a net that is immediately cast overboard followed by the floats and the white board with the main float 27.56 Paying out winch cable. In this documentary, from 6' to 22' the subject is the New Guinea issue. Luns declares (1961) that as far as he himself and the Dutch government are concerned 'primarily the self-determination of the Papuan population' come first. After Robert Kennedy's visit to The Hague, Luns has to give up his policy, supported by parliament, on New Guinea.
